Oh to be a modern child on New Year's EVe. I guess if Danny came round the corner on his trike muttering "redrum, redrum!" they may look up from their smartphones...

A few colored lights on a string wound round a metal frame and we have an artful installation. Put it in the right place and apparently people will pay over $300 to own it...

As I crank up the fan to warm myself on a chilly morning it is interesting to ponder the designs that go into some of our more humble items. We seldom give them a second thought.

Classy Dining
Our local movie theater now has a dine in facility, with rather tastefully lit seating to allow you to find your place.

Evan a trip to the sleep center affords some artistic appreciation. But is this great model for demonstrating the CPAP masks a classic stereotype of the American Male?

We went to cut our Christmas tree today and found someone had made this small family of snowmen in the trees. At least we assume that's the case and it wasn't a family of full sized snowmen trying to make a break for it but getting caught in the warmer weather!

'Tis the season to be jolly, including an artistic display of the ubiquitous nutcrackers at our local department store...
It never ceases to amaze me how one character has morphed into thousands of irrelevant, unrelated spin-offs, as seen here.

What sort of a statement does this make? One new pink eraser, one new purple eraser, the shorter pencil, with worn out eraser, one pointing to the camera, while the others point to the visitor's chair. Deep, or meaningless? You decide.

The wanton destruction across the quarry has really pissed me off over the last weeks. I prefer to have my blinds partially drawn and look at the new scene through my industrialized blinkers....

Out for a walk with the dogs today and we spotted a lot of beaver damage alongside the river. Rather than looking at this as purely a food source and destruction by out flat-tailed rodent colleagues, I prefer to think this one was "doing a Banksy" - what can you see?

At a meeting today where the water jugs also have whole raspberries and blueberries added in an artistic manner. When viewed close up the glass makes an interesting distortion...

Oh, what cozy meetings we can have huddled around this tiny table and between office cubes! In reality I think this is more of an "installation" that an actual functioning space.

The bulldozers and earth movers have removed the majority of the living things from across the quarry.
They left one tree.

Through the windshield of my morning commute on the rainy day the reflections of the oncoming lights on the glistening road surface was quite inspiring. Even on a seemingly miserable day there is color and light around that be quite uplifting. if you look for it.

Odd Bill Posting
I was stopped at lights on route 100 today and looked over to see the following sticker attached to the median barrier. Very odd from a couple of perspectives: firstly, why risk life and limb to post it there, and secondly what is the message supposed to mean?
Other than countries that are run by dictators or religious fundamentalists, the US must be the only "free" country that uses the term "liberal" as an offensive word. I find this totally bizarre.
I assume some disgruntled fundamentalist popped this sticker here, but on the other hand maybe it's just a complaint that someone put up the safety barrier. In any case, I am pretty confident to state tHis iS nOt aRt, even Liberal Art ;-)

A walk in the woods today with the dogs. The path was quite beautiful, strewn with a multicolored layer of leaves.

Pink Clouds
We do get a lot of pink clouds at sunset, and also at sunrise, although I am not usually able to get a shot very easily so early in the days. I find them quite beautiful.

Fall Festival
Despite the move from agrarian to more industrial focus in the area, we are nevertheless surrounded by bucolic displays of Fall (or Harvest) Festival season. Usually a juxtaposition of hay bales with pumpkins and occasionally some cron stalks, as here outside the doctor's clinic. All very quaint, bUt iS iT aRt?

A flOrAl aRRanGemEnt
We have several "floral arrangements" gathering dust on shelves around the office. Today someone had put them out on the tables in the kitchen and they looked much better there where everyone could see them. They may not be real but they brighten up the place nonetheless.

FSM Pareidolia
No, it's definitely NOT a case of religious pareidolia it's certainly a manifestation of His Noodliness, the Flying Spaghetti Monster, who showed himself to me in my breakfast at the cafe this morning. "Haleh Noodlah" and R'Amen!

This morning there was no wind and the light was great, so I thought it was time to capture the reflection of the trees that are left on the edge of the quarry. Yes, the water really is that color. It's been a source of discussion since we moved here.

While having a facebook challenge with my old friends I checked though my old cassette collection from years ago and stumbled across this classic that I had forgotten about.
I know this doesn't really apply to cassettes, but it made me wonder if in these days of digital downloads, we have somehow lost something with the tactile nature of the associated artwork we used to get with album covers, inner sleeves and notes, etc.?

I love being able to find humor in odd things. Tonight, on the way to the High School football game we stopped off to view some art displays and I couldn't help but smile at the positioning of these door tags. I guess it's important to know if someone has evacuated in the toilet?

After a full day at work undergoing some team-building and character assessments we were presented with a series of colored Lego blocks identifying the priority of the 4 personality types into which we all fell.
Eddie, our Jack Russell Terrier made his artistic comment clear on the blue block, which was all about being detail-driven...

35 - HDR
I really am quite annoyed at the destruction of trees on the opposite side if the quarry, just as I move offices and get a decent view. What galls me even more though is that this huge business park only has two tenants and a significant numbed of undeveloped plots already on this side if the site. To me this seems like poorly timed and wanton destruction. Anyhow, there's nothing I can do other than vent and also include thus image taken using the TrueHDR app on my iPhone which somehow seems appropriate.

I saw a beautiful partial rainbow in the sky over the parking lot as I drove to work today. It lasted only for about a minute but I was glad to be able to get a quick shot as I got out of the car. I also managed to get a shot with my trusty Panasonic GX-1 too here

A sad day today as we attended the memorial for a local artist, who taught my wife. On our way home we passed her house and I took this shot of her gateway, cut from metal sheeting by her partner and symbolizing her other passion, her animals. Very touching.

Over at the Meadow at Longwood Gardens they have installed over 180 birdhouses. I really liked these ones, which remind me of the hats that nuns wear, for some reason?!
